BUCKEYE LANE ORIGINAL LYRICS

You Know The Way    (copyright 2018  Chris and Joe Whelan)

Meet me at the quarry baby,  meet me at the quarry

Oh baby,  oh you know the way

Let’s spend the day lazy,  oh by the cool green waters baby

Meet me by the fire pit baby,  meet me by the fire pit

Oh baby,  oh you know the way

I want to see your face glow,  by the embers orange and low

Oh you know the way,  you know the way baby

Meet me there baby,  you know the way

Meet me there baby,  you know the way

Bird Dog   (copyright 2018  Chris and Joe Whelan)

Wake, little bird pup,

Yawn your sleep away,

That bird you’ve been dreaming,

Is hiding somewhere in your day

Shake, little bird dog,

Desire in your eyes

You wanna catch that dream bird

And she, will want to fly.

You wanna catch that dream bird,

You wanna catch that dream bird,

You wanna catch that dream bird,

And she, will want to fly.

Black Day   (copyright 2018  Chris and Joe Whelan)

Way way down at the bottom of the coal mine,

Way way down in that deep dark hole,

Way down deep at the bottom of the coal mine,

That’s where I find my soul

Hit that rock and the car come and take it,

Workin’ that vein away all day,

One more day and I think I can make it,

One more day till I get my pay

Yes sir now, won’t you tell me Mr. Union man,

Tell me I got no troubles today,

Cast my vote like they say for the union,

Just sign me up for another black day

Old black dust, wont you give me some time,

Old black dust, don’t you pay me no mind,

Old black dust, wont you give me some time,

You can have yours, just leave me mine

Well you can bury me down at the bottom of the coal mine,

Way way down in that deep dark hole,

Lay me down in the dark that was all mine,

That’s where I’ll rest my soul

Stay My Course       (copyright 2018  Chris and Joe Whelan)

Morning sun rises,  so do I.   If I see blue sky I’d rather walk than ride,

Grass blade to gravel,  I know my way.   I serve my master Lord each and every day,

Long about noon  the gadget man comes,  cardboard coffee cup just begun,

Says I can make you better,  I can make you best,  take a load off,  get some rest

Less isn’t more, and more isn’t less,  sure as the sun will set

I don’t take a break for a paradigm shift, paradigms are small change,

I don’t take a break for a paradigm shift, paradigms are small change

Same hours in the day as yesterday,  same hours in the day tomorrow,

Sun goes low,  I walk home slow,  don’t have no time to borrow,

Grass blade to gravel,  I know my way,   I serve my master Lord each and every day,

I done my work,  my work is done,  she’s a long time past,  she’s a long time gone

She said we can make it better,  we can make it best,

Now I stay my course,  while she gets her rest

Less isn’t more, and more isn’t less,  sure as the sun will set

I don’t take a break for a paradigm shift, paradigms are small change,

Less isn’t more, and more isn’t less,  sure as the sun will set

I don’t take a break for a paradigm shift, paradigms are small change

Morning sun rises,  so do I.   If I see blue sky I’d rather walk than ride,

Grass blade to gravel,  I know my way.   I serve my master Lord each and every day,

You know I do

Less isn’t more, and more isn’t less,  sure as the sun will set

I don’t take a break for a paradigm shift, paradigms are small change,

Less isn’t more, and more isn’t less,  sure as the sun will set

I don’t take a break for a paradigm shift, paradigms are small change

Paradigms are small change,

Paradigms are small change

Grass blade to gravel,  I know my way.   I serve my master Lord each and every day,

Yes I do

Lost Dawn Blues (copyright 2018  Chris and Joe Whelan)

Dark and early in the morning, shadows are born.

Black coffee just wakes me up to another day I don’t want.

Day without dawn, it’s all sunset. Just another day gone that hasn’t begun yet.

When I wake, I pray that time will be a little kinder.

The day she’s gone. It’s just another day without dawn.

The sun shines on the loving. It opens their eyes to each other.

They wake to the day and they rise!

Knowing what I had is knowing what I lost.

The day I left was the first dark day without dawn.

When I wake, I pray that time will be a little kinder.

The day she’s gone. It’s just another day without dawn.
